Rockbridge Regional Fair
2004
Wow - what a week.   Very early Thursday morning, Jimmy and I packed up Dusty, Angel and Stormy and headed out to Lexington VA to attend the Rockbridge Regional Fair.   Brian and Danny were to follow later in the day.

I was excited because I was going to have a clinic with the judge that morning.

When we got there, we had time to set up the stalls and I had time to warm up Angel.   Angel needed it because she has gotten very "fit" and therefore it takes a while for her to stop her non-sense and settle down to work.

Here the instructor is showing me that if you "force" collection by the use of artificial "aids" then a bulge will develope in the side of the neck by the jaw bone.

She did compliment Angel and said that she was one of the few minis she personally had ever met that was able to get fully rounded.  (YIPPY!)
Here we go - practice, practice and more practice.
Come on Angel - pleeeeease - get your nose on the verticle just a teeny bit more......
Pssst - we did pretty well on the dressage test!  Not as good as Muffy Seaton but we were happy all the same!
Got some time penalities in the cones - but not enough to hurt our score much.  What do you expect?  We had to do pony times..... and no cantering!
Angel Places Second behind Muffy Seaton and Bouncer.  Our hazard scores are only one point apart.....
As if I'm not exhusted enough, I have to go and set up the Farm Team Draft Horse Obstacle course then Judge it.   I sure wish I had pictures of it.  Those drafts were so well trained and such good teams!  After that, Stormy, Dusty and Angel have to be bathed and clipped for the pleasure show the next day.....Thank Goodness Linda K was there to help!  I think I got to bed about midnight.   Had "fair" food for dinner again.... No wonder I look so fat!
Pleasure Show
The ring we had to drive in was very deep for the minis.   We had asked the show manager to move the driving classes to the carriage ring, but they said they couldn't.  Stormy and Angel had to struggle somewhat.   Classes were big - 9 or so entries in each.   Angel and I actually didn't bomb out in the turn out class for a change - coming in with a 3rd.   But we did come and did our best!  Most of all we had FUN FUN FUN!!!
The whole family did have a good time, but boy were we ever so exhusted!

Especially Danny and Angel!
Danny found his match  debating with Linda K!
