Helpful Hints from Breanna Sheahan
What to wear if you are a "Youth".
The judges prefer an outfit suited to a young person's age (age appropiate clothing). Not something a middle aged driver would wear--ie, not fancy and overdone on a younger person.
For instance, I wear a moderate straw hat with a band...pretty much all the time (its always summer in CA), and my mom wears a fancy felt one with a feather in it.
A comment I run across a lot is that I am wearing "very age appropiate clothing!" and "they" really seem to like it.
Our first little show, my mom and I had our hair down, and the presentation judge said it is very much encouraged to keep hair up. After all, with a wood wheel, if you leaned to the side, your hair could get caught in the wheel.
And another note, if you have long hair, it must be pulled back or braided.
Ok, last one. I have seen a couple of people do this. Don't wear a bright top/shirt that is unbroken (like with a vest over it) and a dark bottom with a blue or black (any really dark color) cart. It really looks like they are cut off at the waist or, in some cases, like they have no legs and use the cart body/wheels as their lower half.

Martha Duchnowski's NOTE: Boys should wear a suit with a nice shirt and tie. Helmets are always excepted for youth drivers. Jimmy is wearing a navy helmet cover to match his navy suit.
