| Miniature Horse Training. |
| Miniature horses are trained in the American Driving Society method of driving. It takes an average of 2 months to green break a miniature horse to drive. The miniature horse is usually hitch and going OK after 60 days so that the owner can continue with the training. It is important to note that 60 days of training does not make for a solidly trained miniature horse, but rather for a promising green broke miniature horse. It is up to the owner to drive the miniature horse on a REGULAR basis to further the education of the horse. There is NO size limit for a miniature horse. Even very tiny ones can learn to drive with the proper equipment and conditioning. It is recommended that the owner take driving lessons at Silk Purse Farm while their equine is being trained. It is also recommended that an equine dentist check and float the miniature horses mouth BEFORE coming to training begins It is very hard to "bit" an animal that has sharp points digging into the cheeks. We hope you will enjoy driving your miniature horse! |
