Miniature Donkey Training
Miniature donkey’s are trained in the American Driving Society and American Donkey and Mule Society method of driving.   It takes an average of 2 months to green break a miniature donkey to drive.   The miniature donkey is usually driving OK after 60 days so that the owner can continue with the training.   It is important to note that 60 days of training does not make for a solidly trained miniature donkey, but rather for a promising green broke miniature donkey.   It is up to the owner to drive the miniature donkey on a REGULAR basis to further the education of the donkey.

There is NO size limit for a miniature donkey.   Even very tiny ones can learn to drive with the proper equipment and conditioning.

It is recommended that the owner take driving lessons at Silk Purse Farm  while their equine is being trained.

It is also recommended that an equine dentist check and float the miniature donkey’s mouth BEFORE coming to training begins.     It is very hard to "bit" an animal that has sharp points digging into the cheeks.

Miniature donkey’s are a joy to train and drive and we hope you will enjoy driving your donkey in the future.
